Ecola, Oregon

Sunset among the sea stacks on the beach at Ecola, Oregon. Another oldie taken in 1982 using my Mamiya 645 and Ektachrome Professional 100 transparency film. Scanned with an Epson V750, betterscanning.com film holder an Silverfast Stuio 8 Ai software.

Thanks for having a look. This may still need a little work so let me know what you think.

This is a very moody image. The light is great and you captured it very well.

Love the mood and the light, especially where it's "sneaking" through the rocks. I think cropping about half of the dark area at the bottom adds emphasis to the rocks and shore.

I agree with Mark on crop at bottom.
Lovely mood in capture. :toast:

Eva, needless to say technically a tough capture with exposure latitude especially with transparency film. Overall, this came out extremely nice considering that challenge.
I especially like the light path as it has weaved through the rock formations. The amount of light here has also provided enough back area light for a good outlining of the large rocks too.

A primordial scene for sure. Although it would be the Dusk of Time wouldn't it? Yeah, that doesn't sound as good. :jump:

Love everything about this one, Eva. Great light, color, mood, and story. A little noise clean up in the sky perhaps.

I enjoy the extremes of atmosphere here. Dramatic.

When I first opened the image I thought to myself, "that sure looks like the Oregon Coast". It's nice to see an image from you from my neck of the woods! Very nice use of light and shadow. I could see cropping a bit off the bottom, but this works very well as presented.

Might clean up some of the noise. Otherwise a powerful image, like what you've done with lighting levels and colour.

Eva,

I really like this! Despite the large areas of detailess shadow, there's a great sense of mysterious and enchanting mood here. The hint of light filling up the bottom of the frame is important and for that reason I wouldn't crop. Other than the aforementioned noise/grain, I think this works wonderfully.

Love the glow bouncing around within the silhouetted sea stacks and the hint of light in the foreground sand. Your scanning and processing were very successful, Eva, in my opinion as this could easily have been overwhelmed by dark, featureless silhouettes. Really like the tunnel-like perspective as well, with the eye drawn back along the beach between the rock to the gorgeous sky. An oldie as you state, but definitely a beautiful image.

This is dripping with mood, Eva. The interplay of light and shadow is simply spectacular. :toast: My only suggestion would be the already mentioned noise cleanup.
