Darno, John! The photographers curse, either too much light or not enough. They look pretty healthy.

Dusk is certainly the best time of day to find deer out in the open. Your photo captures that low light time well and the blue cast adds to the feeling of dusk and coldness. I always find it amazing how these animals survive the winter living in woods and forests, without significant shelter. I like the almost identical look on their faces. . .they were certainly keeping an eye on you.

A cold night for anyone outside at the time! The blue cast and low light reinforce the coldness of the shot. I like how they both are in the same position with the same expression, almost like twins. The overhead branches serve to frame them nicely too. I probably would have moved my lens so there was a little more room to their left and perhaps increased the exposure a bit to lighten them up. Nicely done on a moment's notice.
