Reflective light bouncing off the opposite canyon wall created an etherial orange glow. Any critiques would be greatly appreciated!

This creates a nice cheery mood for me with the colors and brightness. One possibility would have a very slight crop on the bottom so the stronger ridge on the left angles down to the corner. Next time I get a permit, I will certainly hike up there. This should look great printed on metal.

Such beautiful lines and colors in these canyon walls! The top portion almost looks like a fire with the swirling lines and orange coloring. The bottom portion makes an interesting contrast with the straight lines and more subdued coloring. One suggestion re comp would be a crop up from the bottom to make the horiontal line more at the 1/3 spot to help showcase the top portion more. Just a thought. . . Great focus throughout this image, Scott.

Doug and Carolyn, thanks for the suggestions on cropping, here is a try taking into account both your suggestions. I have a horizontal version of this that focuses more on the upper part of the image as you mentioned Carolyn, but didn't want to post an entirely different image.

I love the warm bright color Scott. Your re-crop is really well composed with very interesting lines and swirls throughout. Very nice.

I think I like the repost better, Scott. I did look back at your horizontal version of this and realized I had also commented on that one about a slight crop up from the bottom. These abstract rock scenes can be open to lots of ways of composing and everyone will have their own opinions. But you as the photographer have the final say in how you wish to present your image. They actually all are very nice! Looks like a place a photographer could spend many hours/days exploiting all the possible images to be found in these beautiful rocks!

Maelstrom defines all the swirling lines in the rocks well. The range of orange tones is pretty amazing. The repost does feel better balanced.
