New Year's Eve was spent overlooking Lake Powell a few years ago. The rewards were peaceful solitude and a soothing pink sunset. The light from the clouds imparted similar color to the sandstone below.

Awesome shot, Doug! Very nice composition--the water somewhat leads to the mountain in the background, the rock cliffs on the left are balanced by the water and inlets towards the right, and the beautiful sky sends its "soothing pink" color cast over the lake and rock cliffs. Good sharp focus throughout too. Peaceful spot, indeed!

Interesting image, the reflections are very cool. Unfortunate that there wasn't a more dramatic sky to work with but shoot it was winter. How wide of focal length was the lens? It looks pretty wide.

Gorgeous soft light Doug, I like all the detail in the image from the banded rocks on the left to intricacies of the shoreline which allows the eye to wander throughout the image. great eye and nicelycomposed. :toast:

Yeah, this is what I think of when the subject of color casts comes up. Dawn and dusk. The balance, the yin and yang, of earth to sky and warm to cool are perfect on this one as far as I can tell. Very much the archetypal landscape, I would say.

I sure like all the structures in the foreground and the gentle pink in the sky works perfectly with the warm tones of the rock. Lovely scene.
