Fall Creek Falls State Park. Van Buren County, Tennessee. This is one of those 180 degree captures, as I was shooting in the other direction previously. Tony Kuyper's colorful images have taught me that there's often more detail in your subject than meets the naked eye. These rocks proved his point to me. I was amazed at how much detail, color, and texture I found there once I began excavating in post processing. More than I remember seeing while standing in front of them.

Excellent detail and good comp. My eye is naturally drawn to the juncture of path and rocks. An interesting observation on detail and the sight memory. As is quite often the case, perception is more real than reality itself. The trick is to make the perceived seem real and believable. :toast:

Michael,

Wonderfully captured and processed landscape. There is much to enjoy and appreciate here. For starters, with the help of your title, I do get the sense of being right on the edge, or at least detecting a significant drop off on the right, even though there's not much evidence of a cliff or anything. Beside that feeling, the colors and details you've managed here are excellent. Lost of explore and it all looks quite natural.

Phil said: "The trick is to make the perceived seem real and believable. " Which is my belief as well and I think you've done that perfectly here. Well done!

The detail in the larger version is beautiful, Michael. It makes you appreciate the variety and detail in nature that one often misses to contemplate while rushing to accomplish some other goal.Very nice work here!

Makes me want to get to safer ground...but I like it! I'd probably crop out the blue sky in the background, make it feel more secluded. Either way works, just a suggestion

Beautiful intimate scene with outstanding tone and color, so kudos to your light and processing. I do find the sky in the URC a little distracting, and you could play with some crop options.

This is very special, Michael. Nothing jumps out and grabs me; it's more like a warm embrace. Really enjoy looking at this.
