This is a very nice image. Super nice lighting and wonderful color. Contrasting textures of the brush and rocks add a nice feel for the place. Good job! Chet

Strong comp and beautiful light Rick. On my monitor this seems a touch too red on the ground but I'm not color calibrated at this point and that may be the color anyway. Beautiful scene, I hope to get there to shoot in the next month or so.

Great light and comp. Color seems a bit off to me looking at the foreground foliage.

This image was shot in late winter (Early March). The scrub was mostly yellow-brown-that might account for the golden color of the scrub given the strong late side lighting.

Any opinions out there??

I like the warm light on the rocks and their shapes are very pleasing. Also the foreground plants create nice depth. Parts of the gray clouds feel a bit purple on my screen. Don't know if that's an adjustment artifact or the color just pushed a bit too far.

Rick,

I like this scene of these monuments of the American Southwest. The composition is excellent, as is the light and sky - this is a nicely balanced comp as well.

I do think some color and contrast work could make this stand out better. Tony mentioned the sky - I would agree the clouds are on the purple side. Not off terribly much, but thought I would concur with Tony's comments. I like the foreground brush and the color seems to go along with the light and perhaps time of day (late light.) What I think the foreground is lacking is contrast. I would like to see brighter brights combined with some darkening of the deeper shadows for some increased contrast and the notion that the light is really picking up those plants. Lastly, I'm wondering if there is any more brightness and detail that can be brought out in the rock formations? Yes, I realize there's a dark and light side due to the direction of the light, but here is a case where the side facing the sun could be brighter (like the bushes), but the darker side could also be brighter, but with more contrast to ensure the shadows are still present. NOt sure if this makes sense. But a few things could be done. It's a fine image and I think worth the tweaking.
