Thanks very much for your thoughts and comments on my previous post. I still have another grasses image to share, but thought I would break the string and post,..... another black oak tree image. ;-)

You may recall the panoramic that Youssef posted not too long ago. These trees and this image is entirely contained within his pano. We photographed this scene independently of each other, although at some point we both ended up here. How can I forget Youssef seated on the bank of the Merced loading film. Kinda like changing an SD card - only it takes longer.

Your thoughts and honest critiques welcome as always. Only a few more after this one.

Thanks!
Lon

Lon, These scenes feel so good to me. I like this comp and color very much, but mostly I enjoy the quiet mood this has. Including the water and reflection across the bottom of this really adds a wonderful touch to this scene. This is another beauty!

A lovely scene and very well captured. I'm not sure there is enough water/reflection to hold my interest in the fg but I also think it would feel cramped without it. Just a musing out loud, there. I love the quietness of this image. Very nice

Lon, Initially this image didnt strike me as anything that special, although its very good. The more I look at it i'm enjoying it, it has an organic painterly look and feel to it and I think there is just enough water to show the nice reflection then move the eye up to view the rest of the scene. On my monitor it could stand to be a little bit brighter. The larger version really needs to be seen as well.

Soft and beautiful Lon. The subdued and understated color palette is deceivingly complex. The large version really shines!

Interesting how quickly the light changes. I recall it like this earlier and then later how it warmed up with El Cap adding some light to the area. I almost forgot that I was changing film there. I do miss it there already.

Another understated beauty Lon. It's the muted color palette and the textural detail that appeals to me technically in this but it's the mood you've captured/created that really makes me enjoy it. Beautiful, warm, contemplative image.

The minute I saw the thumbnail, I know this was yours. This has a real quiet and timeless quality about it that I like. You can sit on the bank and just look at it for hours.

Very well captured and processed scene, Lon. I feel the all around framing of this scene provides an excellent placement of the subject(s). The balance between the viewable water and the top as well as the sides of the main group of trees really make it work so well. Saturation, contrast, and detail are excellent also. Another fine image to add to your YNP collection from this last outing.

Very fresh and inviting landscape Lon, great clarity too. The detail comes through beautifully in this, as with all your photo's.

Gary.

I like how overall there is some nice focal points here, but as you look deeper there's more detail than first meets the eye. So much more becomes visible in the larger version.

You always seem to capture a quiet peaceful mood which always has a way of drawing me in, I think that is what I like best about the scenes you post, and that is what makes them work so well. Beautiful work Lon as always.

Pretty nice, Lon. You should string together all of your oak shots in a big stitched line--then you'd have a whole perfect oak forest!
