I have no clue what this is, but a friend of mine has a bunch of it growing on her fence & offered me some to photograph.

Comments, suggestions welcome!

(Thanks Lucy for the ID!)

Eirini: I like the comp and subject placement. I'm ambivalent regarding the paneling in the BG; I like the texture but then again going to black would seem to help keep focus on the subject. Keep up the good work! >=))>

Not an expert....http://www.google.com/search?q=snail+flower&hl=en&tbo=u&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=X&ei=KRTaUIGjBNDDiwKOuIGQDg&ved=0CDIQsAQ&biw=1024&bih=617
But, it looks like a snail flower to me. All the ones I've seen have also been purple.

Eirini - Definitely resembles the Snail Flower as mentioned by Lucy. Not my genre but I seem to like the mysterious mood to this presentation.

Erini:
Really like these kind of images though I have not done one for some time. The slightly angled side lighting is a lot more interesting than the first image of this genre that you posted. The container is an integral part of this image and adds a lot of appeal to this still life image. :toast:

Eirini,

I like this but compositionally to me it seems to be more about the stem than the blooms. I do like the light interacting with the glass but I'd probably have emphasized the blooms more in the comp and that would have meant getting closer to them or changing the lighting. This is just my preference though, certainly nothing wrong with what you've done here.

This has that Old World appeal, almost an ancient oil painting, that begs a second and third look. It grows on one! Good work, Eirini!
