Tiger Lily (?)

I've been reworking some older floral files for my juried art shows in 2013. Decided to use some 3D border effects. Lots of cut & paste. Hoping to catch the eyes of some patrons.

I love the out of bounds...just haven't tried it myself.
Yours is terrific! Kudos! :toast: What program do you use? :toast:

Good presentation! Lucy, this is certainly feasible in PS.

Great image. I like the creativity. The "out of bounds" gives the image a "3D" effect. Love it.

Thank you all for the comments. Lucy - Processing was done in PS, either CS or CS3, I can't remember. My skills are not that proficient, so my methods are probably slow and crude, but the end result works. I cut sections out, tediously erased the background areas, then pasted the out-of-border areas back as individual layers on top of the background.

Michael:
A very eye catching presentation :jump: Even the thumbnail is compelling and I like the image a lot.

Another alternative you could try is to cut off the branch at the lower end and have the stalk coming out from the dark background (with a complete unbroken red line). This will have the visual effect of the stalk stick out of the page.

Eye catching, indeed! Really nice color combination. I would clean up the end of the stem. It's a little rough.

I love how this seems to almost leap out of the frame.

This definitely looks 3D! I am not really used to looking at this particular style, but it looks good to me! I don't have a problem with the jagged stem edge...seems like it would look weird if it was a clean cut.

Michael - This style works here but I'd have preferred the stem to be within the frame and just the blooms popping out of the frame but that is not a critique on the photo.

They sure look like Tiger Lilies but Turk's Cap Lily might also be it.

Michael,

I found the action that will create the same effect w/o all the work you had to put into this.........PanosFX.com | Photoshop actions & other resources www.panosfx.com/ :wavey: The particiular effect is called Out of bounds. Next time, you can have a little more fun and a lot less work!

Lucy - Thank you for the information on PanosFX. I will certainly visit their site. I presume it is some sort of masking tool that will make life much easier. I do enjoy doing these out-of-border images when the subject is right, and any helpful tool will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not big on the 3D but I can see a lot of people do enjoy it. Just not something I am drawn too Michael. But, you have one heck of a creative eye you know that.
