This photo was taken in the Blue Mesa area of the petrified forest NP. I included the detail of the nearby hill for impact. I feel it places the viewer right there. Your comments and suggestions are welcome. Chet

An interesting composition. I rather like it even though the near bluff is a little too dominate for my tastes. I think you could burn down the highlights in the mid ground as they seem unnaturally bright compared to the sky. I like the layering in the far bluffs.

There's some really nice geology exposed here and I like the colors and sky. I'm not sure about the sky in the upper left corner, it seems a little dark.

Chet,

Despite the dominance of this formation up front, I think the composition works very well. You also have tremendous depth of field here - great job with that. But also, this image does a great job in giving the viewer a sense of the place. I like how the striations or layers in the rock are repeated in the background.

I think the light is appropriate for what looks like stormy conditions. Every corner of the frame has interest - I like the little tufts of grass and you've got some great clouds working.

I like this quite a lot.
