An Oasis of Color

This patch of colorful ground lies at the north end of the Alabama Hills, and is in contrast to the rocky terrain the area is known for. The base of the Eastern Sierra can be seen in the background.
Thanks and comments welcome.

What a palette! Very nice as is, but I also think it makes a great crop to remove the background; that mix of vegetation rocks.

Amazing variety of plants textures and colors in this. This area could produce many great photos.

I'd expect that this could only be fully appreciated by viewing a large print. There is so much detail that appears to be getting lost due to compression in even the larger photo. I like the complementary warm foreground and cool background separated by the featureless expanse in between.

Nice color contrast, but the blue tones in the bg are a bit too saturated for me.

Beautiful, Rudy. The colors and textures in the vegetation are fantastic. I like the inclusion of the background in this version.

Beautiful blast of color. I also thought about a crop of the background, but think I like it better as presented.

I'm really enjoy all the colors and textures in the vegetation. There is an interesting tension between the warm foreground and the cold mountains, but I'm with John in thinking that a version without the mountains would be special as well.

I'm going to join those suggesting that this lovely oasis could stand by itself, without the mountain base in the bg. Its a beautiful, warm collection of color and texture that I really enjoy. Nice job

Love the detail and textures in this shot. The light and color is so classically fall in the Owens Valley.

Rudy,

This is outstanding! Perhaps my favorite and recent best. While the landscape could be a wonderful image without the mountain range, I think it works beautifully by including it. Without the mountains you've got a study in color and detail, but with the mountains you now have a story, a story of place. This will make a gorgeous print.

If it were mine, I might play around with the saturation a bit - maybe even selectively. Actually, maybe just pulling back on the blue of the mountain. Not sure I would touch the vegetation - that's simply eye popping!

Wow, just an awesome image. Congrats!

Looks like Moffett Ranch Road area, Rudy. Always some very nice autumn colors around that area. As already mentioned, I'd tone the blue/cyan down along the sierra base on the saturation level. It's an interesting contrast with the wild reds & yellows in the FG, but it appears too strong here. Otherwise, a wonderful capture along that area of the sierra range.

Very thoughtfully composed and aptly titled, Rudy. As others have said I like the colors,
textures, and shapes. I particularly enjoy the FG reeds for their lines that are in contrast
to the bushes further back. I hope that you have more images to post from this area.
