Deschute's Blush
by John Williams
A couple weekends ago, some good friends graciously invited my wife and me to spend the weekend with them in Sunriver, Oregon. We had a great time tandem bicycling and hiking, and the afternoon before this photo was taken we went past this spot along the Deschutes River while walking to Benham and Dillon Falls.
I really liked the way the river looked at this spot, but didn't play with compositions. (For some reason, non-photogs don't like to prowl around minutia for an hour or two; I don't get it.) When I went back the next morning, there was an overcast sky and I wasn't sure I would get any color at all. I was playing with compositions when all of a sudden the color flashed on. This isn't the comp I would have chosen if I had had more time, but the color was gone in less than three minutes and I took what I could get.

I think you did very well with the composition! This is beautiful and what a striking sky.
Not really a nit, but an observation. To me, the shadows (mostly in the foreground grasses) seem a bit open, leading to the thought that I'd like to see a little more contrast in those grasses. Very minor and of course a personal choice. Otherwise, I've got no nits or suggestions.
