hi folks,

it took me longer than i had hoped to finalize my first images from my recent trip to iceland. this one's a classic. a chunk of ice washed ashore on the beach near jökulsárlón lagoon. nothing really new here - still a very special photographic experience. :toast:

you can read (just a little) bit more about the image on my blog.

Beach near Jökulsárlón, Iceland

Canon 5DMKII, Nikon AF 14-24 @ 14mm
ISO 100, f/11, .8 seconds
single exposure processed in LR and PS (TKs luminosity masks)

best,
joerg

WoW!! Love the way the cloud and wave surge mimic one another. Would love to get there someday and see this kind of scene. Processing looks very good.

Wow #3...
The sky and the water alone would make this a winner...
The ice is icing on the cake.. (sorry)

Classic shot or not, photos from here are always impressive and this one is exceptional. I would love to see this in person someday.

Great shot Joerg......The wave motion sets this one off......I would personally prefer a small crop of the foreground.

Beautiful. The crystaline ice is just beautiful and the motion in both sky and surf in the bg mesmerizing. Great image.

Love the in-your-face comp Joerg. The repeating wave and cloud motion really pulls me in.

I always enjoy these type of shots. To me, this one stands out thanks to the main subject. The bright, glassy texture of the foreground ice block really sets it apart from the rest of the scene.

A classic subject. But one has to master it anyway and you did. Great colors and depth.

Love it! The low vantage point, the sky and the wave action create a very dynamic scene. I need to go there...

Beautiful Joerg! Like you say, it's been done before, but that doesn't make any less beautiful. Looks like a giant jewel, which, in a way, it is!

Wonderful contrast to this in all respects, color contrast and ice/water/sand. Excellent shot, looks like a magical place, well done.
