I was up at Lake Powell for a couple days on a houseboat this week...what a great trip. This was the only time that clouds showed up- but right at sunset!

Gunsight Butte, Glen Canyon Rec Area

Nikon D200, Nikon 17-55 2.8, 3sec@f14, grad ND, single exposure.

Great scene, and I love how the colour of the sky echoes that of the red landscape, well shot! :wavey:

A beautiful scene Bob. The light and glow is so nice and I love the reflections in the water! In some ways I kind of wish the brighter foreground wasn't included, but still great looking as is. Maybe a pano crop would work too...just a thought.

Beautiful color and technically exposed well. My only nit is that I look and see the wonderful color reflected in the water in the distance and wish that was more visible in the foreground, There isn't anything about the 'beach' in the foreground that holds my interest.

I like this one a lot, Bob. Beautiful light both in the sky and in the foreground. There are a lot of nice details in the larger version. Excellent work!!

Looks like you had a good time on the lake Bob. Surely this sunset must have been amazing to see. The colors are perfectly matched against the red rocks, but I find the foreground a bit distracting. I might have gone for a simpler comp closer to the far edge of the shore to get more of a reflection of color. Hope the books helped in your planning and shooting.
