Perpetua Sunrise

Sunrise light at Cape Perpetua, Central Oregon Coast, August 2012.

This is another image from our trip to the coast in August. I was really fortunate to have some amazing light on this particular morning. Most of the time in the summer the marine layer comes in and takes away any possibility of a colorful sunrise. The marine layer is visible here, just a 1/4 mile offshore...I'm glad it stayed out there for sunrise!

Wonderful pin wheel effect in the clouds Scott. The subtle reflection and wave splash that mimic the cloud structure are nice elements as well

This is really nice Scott. Beautiful sky with those great looking clouds and nice reflections. The wave splash is a small part of the image but adds so much to the overall scene. Wonderful detail too! Very nice work. :toast:

Yea, I'll say you had an exceptional nice sky to play with. Any possibility of bringing up the brightness of the foreground reflection? Regardless, its a beautiful capture.

Tremendous sky and color. I like the color cast in the water and on the rocks for the pink clouds. Fine image.

Wonderful clouds and light. They catch my attention, but for me, the thing that keeps me looking is the crashing waves.

Great sweeping lines in this composition carry the eye well all over the scene. The light sure was nice that morning. :toast:

I love the geometry of the spoked wheel here Scott, nice touch with the wave action counterbalancing darker mass on the left. The shape of the water pool in the fg is just perfect to match clouds. And definitely amazing light.

A beautiful seacoast shot, Scott. The color is lovely and I like your shutter speed choice for the
breaking waves.

Very well scene and processed. I would maybe darken the sky just a tad but thats being really picky. Great colors as well.

Love the light and how it all converges. I think the inner splash is a nice addition, but find the outer splash distracting as it leads my eyes out of the frame.
