Further up the road from my last post there is this expanse of aspens. Its the best I have ever seen it. The late after noon light dancing among the clouds provided some exciting light to work with. I do feel though that the light on the right side was a bit harsh and was hard to work with.

I would like to hear your honest critiques and opinions on this one. Its an image that has been in my mind for a long time. This one was made using the D2x and 7 vertical frames. I did the same with the 4x5 on two sheets of film using a back shift, one right and one left. Those will be back soon, but wanted to get a feel for the idea.

Thanks for the comments on my last post and ahead of time for anything you would like to say here.

Nice. Really like the pano and the variety in the frame.

Looking good, Youssef. I really like the pano idea here and can imagine how neat the 4x5's will look too. I especially like the detail and contrasting color in the front grove area. Although I also like the unending depth to the scene, I might slightly darken and add a tiny bit more contrast to the extreme BG area for another look see. Just a thought......

Nice pano. Colors and textures are nice, while there is a lot to look at, I feel if I was looking at this as a large print, I wouldn't love the bare branches in the foreground.

Long pano format is really nice here, fitting well with multiple layers of color and texture.White trunks in a multicolored area contrast well and thus the whole composition works well. Couple of tiny nits : for me area of grass on the right is overbright. Secondly, a little improvement to the composition (imo) is to crop out tiny dark speck in the right upper area, it conflicts with well positioned set of darker trees nearby.

All in all very well done fall pano.

A beautifully composed pano Youssef. The golden color is fantastic.

Youssef, This is a wonderful panoramic! I really enjoy the light and golden glow of color through out the scene. This would look great hanging on a wall. Very nice!

I assume this is Conway Summit? Anyway, I have always wanted to get a shot of the large expanse of aspen there as well. I agree, this year it was looking pretty good. It always seems to go off a little later than the areas south. This has a lot more uniform yellow than the scene I saw probably a week earlier. I like what you have captured here, and the light looks good to me!

Beautiful pano image Youssef. I wish there was a bit more fall color at the top of the hill on the right, but overall, this is a minor nit.

Youssef,

Wonderful pano from Conway Summit! I must agree with everyone's comments - wonderful color and even the varied light works beautifully. I'm a little torn about the top, but I must admit I don't think there is anything you could do differently. I like the gentle curve of the bg from edge to edge. I suppose one could try and burn down the top, increase some contrast to reduce the hazy affects, but really, I think this works as present. Besides, the sweeping aspen groves are the story, and this is quite nice.

Whoa, I like this! Beautiful autumn color and I like the pano format. As you mentioned, the light on the far right side looks a little hot; I might burn or multiply that section a little.

I spent the last three weekends in the Eastern Sierra and don't recall seeing such consistent color as you have here. I was a little south of this area and the color was much more patchy, but still very nice. The low angle light really brings out the color. Nicely done.
