Sunset in Blue

A day of near misses, this day.
Everywhere I went I was just a few minutes too late.

Seal Cove is about fifteen minutes from home, on the west side of the peninsula. Headed there.

Saw a nice pic of rim lit trees. By the time I found a safe place to pull over, I was a little late. :(

Got into Seal Cove. Went around to the right. At the end of the road, I looked across the bay to see beautiful pink light reflecting off the rocks.

Ripped back around to the harbour. OOPS.
A little too late. :(

The sun was setting fast. Nothing to do but set up the tripod and take a few snaps.
Apparently only the gull and I were enjoying this.

Any way, by the time I was set up, I figured I was a little too late. The sun was down below the hills; most of the colour was gone.

Took a couple of shots, anyway.
Actually, I don't mind this - the shadows are in blue with a little colour on the water.
That works. :)

Any way. The sun dropped and it got dark very quickly.
Nothing to do but to head for home.

A few minutes out of town a moose crossed the road in front of me.
Miss the opportunity to whack him with the truck.
Just a little too late.
Thankfully :)

Some times it pays. lol

The reflection and textures work great here as does the off-centered gull. Maybe crop those orange edges at the top as they really draw the eye out of the frame.

Stan - when I got to the moose part of your story I had to laugh - yes, sometimes being just a few seconds late is a good thing

Think I agree with Tony about cropping the bits of sky at the top.

Tony/Karen:
Appreciate your dropping by and commenting.

Originally, I had cropped this image to 3:2 format, getting rid of the sky.
When I went back to have a look, I didn't find it bothered me so I left it.
Now that you brought it up, it DOES bother me.
Go figure.

As far as the moose goes, its amazing how hard it is to see a creature that big.
But yes, just missed is a good thing.

Karen:
You must be a patient person.
I didn't expect anyone to actually read my entire mini-book. lol

Liked your story as much as the picture. Spent a week up in Acadia and missed quite a few by not having a place to park also. Like how the water color changes. And the gull doesn't seem to mind the stillness around him.

Stan, definitely like your re post and the different layers of color in the water, the gull brings the composition to life. Very nice indeed.

I like the simplicity of this scene Stan. The repost looks much better to me.

The crop is much stronger. I think you could boost the bright end/contrast just a bit and it will be perfect. Nice layers and pleasant subject.

Beautiful reflected color and the duck is a nice addition. I would crop a little off the top though.

Thank ya, Bill. ")

Took the top off the hills and re-posted.

Thinking I might try a more severe crop and take the hills out altogether (?).
