The combination of frost, rising mist, steam from hot springs and smoke from wildfires produced some of the most spectacular lighting conditions I have ever seen - on my first visit to the USA national parks. I had about half an hour of this. I was mainly looking for wildlife or birds, but couldn't resist trying some landscapes, a discipline I would like to learn.

Intesen sunrise with a nice bit of steam/fog and good composition. I would maybe crop from the bottom a bit and it's too bad about that dead tree but overall a nice image. I'm in the same boat as you with landscape photography - and as easy as the pro's on NPN make it look it's quite difficult, even with a solid knowledge of "nature" photography

The light is glorious. I would probably slice off the green band at the bottom edge but the composition works pretty well for me.

I generally try to avoid most dead trees in my pictures but this one works fore me. Sparse branches make them more photogenic and the backlighting works well on this on as well. Nice image. I hope you had a wonderful visit.

Beautiful image Ian. The color of the sun is just perfect and the mist rising above the trees takes this one to a higher level. Well done!

Ian,

This is beautiful! What a great moment in nature you captured and glad you were able to take advantage of this on your trip to the states. No nits!
