Nice direct image of this black bear. Looks like it is trying to decide something. To me there seems to be a slight magenta cast to the image. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Mark,
I'm in agreement with John that you caught this bear giving a look that definitely seems like it's contemplating something - that definitely adds visual interest to the shot. The lighting is perhaps a tad flat, but that did allow you to capture good dark-on-dark detail on the bear, which is a good thing. I find the out-of-focus vegetation curving from the lower right and up the right side of the frame a tad distracting, but it definitely doesn't "kill" the image...
Cheers...
Brad
PS: It's great that you're posting images in here and other galleries - the success of the critiquing galleries are dependent on that. But it would be even better if you commented perhaps a bit more on the images of others. I recognize that the recommended posting ratio of 5 comments for every image posted can be tough to maintain, but perhaps posting a few more comments than images would be a step in the right direction! And, I'm sure you'll find that once you get into the regular practice of thinking about and writing your own critiques of other's images you'll think more about, and improve, your own photography.
If you're unsure or uneasy about commenting/"critiquing" there are several good resources on this website discussing it. Start right here:
