I found this little beauty just after sunrise on the last moring I was in Malheur NWR this spring. I always see them perched on the barbed wire fences. I was quite suprised to find this perched one on a cattail reed.

Canon 600mm & 1.4x, 1/1000, f9, ISO 800, manual spot meter

I very much appreciate all your comments and suggestions.

I love this image, with the perfectly bent reed as a perch. Great colors in the BG, mirroring the bird's. Wonderful catch!

Terrific setting and nice composition. Good detail and sharpness. A touch more light on the face would have been nice to get.

comp, colors, and setting are all wonderful here, Ken, what a beauty of a shot. I'm on my laptop, so it's hard for me to judge the brightness of the face.

Great shot, Ken. The position of the bird in the branch pattern makes for an artistic composition.

Ken, the curved reeds make a great perch! Nice warm light and agree that a tad brighter on the face would be ideal.
