Iceberg in La Scie

I received a phone call, letting me know an iceberg was in La Scie harbour (gotta love small towns).

Arriving far too early, I waited for over three hours to catch this image as the sun began to set below the distant hills.

Olympus E-5
ISO 200
Tripod mounted 50-200 mm lens @ 50 mm; f:11; 1/50 second

Nice capture. I really like all the colors here, and the simplicity of the scene. IMO, a pano crop might bring more attention and focus on the sunset light and glacier? Not sure, because as is I appreciate the feeling of vastness this carries... Thanks for sharing this!

Lovely capture Stan. I too live in a small town and have benefited from local-tips  Think I agree with Nathan - there is a sense of vast openess is created with this crop, and a pano-crop would draw attention to the sunset and iceberg - which means you have an image that will work equally well in two different ways / for two different reasons! :toast:

You both may be very correct. I use a 16:9 aspect ratio crop for my background, which I think looks pretty good.
Something more extreme might be even better, like the 3:1 crop attached.

The contrast of warmth and the ice is really intriguing here! :toast:

Iceberg. Looks like a floating albino dinosaur. The cropped version is my favorite.
