Self Portrait

This shot is about mile in half into hike to the Lighthouse of Palo duro Canyon near Canyon, Texas. The canyon was formed from water erosion by the Red River (the canyon is deep red). This is often touted as the second largest canyon in North America. The Red River got it's color and therefore name from sediments washed from this canyon over the thousands of years.

Temperatures reach upwards of 125 degrees in August so take plenty of water.

Nice self portrait Rick. I alwys enjoy self portraits and keep meaning to get one of myself. The only area of the photo that I don't care for is the dark area in the LLC because it draws my eyes away from your shadow. I would either clone or crop it out.

Cool. I like the elongated shadow leading to the rock formation.

Good use of the CP to tame the bright light Rick, your wifes? long shadow makes this interesting.
She looks larger than life, and I like the raised arm I see that's shielding her eyes..
Her presence helped your picture tell a story, she must be a very patient women
God Bless Texas :wavey:

Unique self-portrait! I like the comp in this picture with the ravine in the center flowing down to the shadow. . .or the shadow person looking up the ravine. This picture would be nice even if it was cropped to eliminate the shadow if one wished to do so. Rich color treatment and good focus throughout. Works well for the theme, Rick.
