Red Head

Here is a backyard shot of one of the Red Heads we have nesting in a hickory tree there. I have been shooting them all summer but they are hard to get when facing the camera. They just don't like to pose I guess. This is cropped to about 60% of original size.

D7000, 400mm, f/8, 1/640, fill flash & tripod

Very nice, Walt. My only suggestion would be to reduce the obviousness of the flash by cloning down the reflection in the eye and selectively darkening the perch. But a very good shot of a challenging species.

Nice sharp image. I like the pose, but would suggest darkening the stub of a branch right below the birds left foot just a bit. Hope you get the chance for more shots.
Thanks for sharing.
