Fox Kit

California Gray Fox

This is the best I could do with the contrast-y light and elusive nature of this kit, one of a family of 4 kits in a local park. Sadly, the park closes at 5:30, just as the light is starting to improve. Hopefully, still a worthwhile image.

Thanks to KB for the tip on location!

Well done, for the harsh light! Sadly, indeed.

Nice work given the light! Sometimes I just hike into parks like that to avoid the gates closing on me... If thats possible of course... Anyhow great shot!

Cam, unfortunately, all parking is exterior to this park, and we are already hiking in, and thru pedestrian gates. There are rare and sensitive plants in this area of the park, and I'm sure the extra caution is to protect plant thieves.

Sweet! You really got the alert look. Love the texture in the fur. Glad you got such a nice shot. Kathy

Rather a tight crop, but very cute, indeed. About the authorities deciding to close down the park to visitors at 5:30, we have such guys in India, too, who want everyone to leave at 6, just as the harsh light is beginning to become more mellow and pleasing. Just high-handedness, or boorish behavior, or wanting to show 'who's boss around here'!

Hey Sandy,

The very high cute factor definitely overpowers the contrasty lighting and somewhat busy background! A shame you're not able to work with these little dudes during times when the lighting is likely to be better.

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Excellent expression Sandy. Softer lighting would have been over the top.

Very cute image, Sandy! You worked well with the light given. I can imagine the park closing down to protect stuff, but it would be so nice to be there later... :toast:

Very nice, Sandy. The little guy gave you a wonderful pose and you captured it well, considering the difficulties with the lighting. Interestingly, I find I like the BG on the right but not the left. Guess it maybe all the light areas on that side (L) that pull my attention. The head is definitely close to looking adult but the rest of him still looks pretty much a juvenile. Glad to see a nice gray fox image as we don't get too many posted.
