Yellowstone Glacier Lily

I was in Yellowstone NP the third week in May. In addition to the amazing wildlife and scenery a few wildflowers caught my eye. Glacier lilies bloom in early spring, often opening soon after snow melt. I captured this image before sunrise. Later in the day it will stand up and open to pollinators.

Unique wildflower, from one of the most unique places on earth.
One has to experience Yellowstone at least once in their lifetime.
Love the yellow and green combo, and they way the lily has relaxed downward so gracefully.
Nice work David :toast:

David:
Caught this one snoozing. A very low down POV; hope you did not get your belly wet/cold taking this.

The very low light on the yellow gives this a nice glow. Would have been nice to see the arched stem from a slight different angle rather than straight on giving the impression that this flower has fallen off its stem and lying on the leaf.

David, I love the yellow and green and the light. When I first saw this I did think that the flower had fallen off the stem, so I agree to see a slightly different angle would have been great also.

Good job with getting the flower and front leaf sharp. These flowers (and their eastern relative the Trout Lily) are hard to photography and you've done an excellent job here. I love the recurved petals.

I agree with Gary and Barbara. Nice colors and low angle.

Looks like you were very quiet and didn't wake it up yet. Excellent gesture in this. Also, the color, sharpness, and dof are just as nice.

Beautifully catch of this lovely flower, David! I especially like the choice of a vertical comp that gives room to the upper leaf. :toast:
