Canon 30D, f4, 1/50. I removed a lot of background to focus on these that seemed to naturally "rise to the top" from the light. Would appreciate an ID of what kind of leaves.

Lucy: These look like maple leaves. I like the color and BG although there are some artifacts that you missed between the two lower leaves under the red stem. I think this would be a little stronger also if we could see the entire lower leaf. >=))>

Interesting lighting and I like the isolation against a dark background. I also second everything Bill said.

Lucy:
Like you comp of just the leaves with a black bg. Makes the leaves pop. Agree with Bill about including the whole lower leaf.

Lucy - My feedback is exactly what Bill said. I do see some untouched areas in the background just near the leaf on the right (mostly below it). I too would have liked to see the lowest leaf in full but I really like the pop feel here. Black background really sets off the colors so nicely.

Definitely maple, I would guess red maple (acer rubrum) from the stalks and twig. My observations are the same as Bill's. Good idea on blacking the BG, might as well get the rest of it.

Thank you. I'm starting to learn from your feedback to go with my instincts. I was also concerned about that bottom leaf, but not quite sure. Really appreciate your time.

This is a repost. Now called Maple Leaves. I like the green leaves at the bottom but I'm guessing someone may suggest I crop them? Comments appreciated.

Both compositions are fine and the lighting is exceptional. As has been said on the first post the lower leaf being cut off distracts some and I would clone out the stem in the upper middle. Good eye to see this and your choice of a black background makes the leaves POP. :wavey:

I like the contrast that makes the leaves glow.
