Wet Aspen

Digging back through some of my older files for a project and came across this. Not sure if others will see what I saw in the image. I guess I liked the white against the fall color and the black lines on the trunks. Anyway, this was taken in a downpour of rain after I made a wrong turn and was headed for the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Nikon D700, f16, .6 seconds, ISO 200.

Nice shot Tom. I love aspens - wish we had them in the south. I like the contrast between the white trunks and foliage, and especially like the detail within the trunks. I do wish there was more room at the bottom though, looks like it's cut off a little too close to the trunk IMO.

Tom, I think this is very nice. I agree with everything Bill mentioned here. The large version is so much nicer to view! These kind of shots in the rain always look so good to me, and this one sure does as well. I also feel the base of the center tree is just a bit close to the bottom edge, but it doesn't need much more. Very nice ...and very pleasing to look at.

Thanks Nick and Bill. Must have been affected by the rain, not wanting to drown my camera.

I'm liking everything about this; The excellent balance of this composition makes an almost irresistible image. The fall colors are the perfect bg to showcase the trunks, and the light is well saturated. Beautiful!!

I like the strong focus of the aspen. Could see trying more saturation with the colors.
