Alex, this is a fantastic image. The composition and tones are wonderful, and the rays of light spilling into the canyon floor really make this work.

This is some of the most awesome light I've seen in a photograph Alex. Perfect comp and great catch!

This is one hell of a grand canyon shot. I love the composition choice along with the bright light beams. Really well done.

Alex, your composition with repetition of elements and an amazing kind of rhythm is fascinating to me. Exceptional light and wonderful natural colors. You lead me through the image to the light in the distance in a compelling way.

This proves that one does not need a pretty sunset or puffy white clouds for a wonderful comp.

Excellent. I'm thinking of trying some images like this in a couple of weeks, so this is very inspirational. 17-55?? Feels much more telephoto.

Thanks everyone!
Tony, it was taken at 31mm on the 1.6x-crop 40D, so a 50mm full frame equivalent. There was a decent crop, however, to tweak the composition - I'd say it's more like 60-70mm equivalent after the crop. If you still use the 28-200, you'll definitely be able to make images like this at the Grand Canyon. The widest I found myself wanting to go at the North Rim was 20mm (32mm FF equivalent).

Man, what an awesome photograph. The large version gives a better feel for the scale, and shows so much detail. And the light is pure magic. Impressive!!!!
