Reyes Light

Point Reyes National Seashore.

Not a unique viewpoint but I was up there scouting around, and why not stop someplace interesting for sunset? I got there a little later than I would have wanted to but I was pleasantly surprised by how much color was in the sky to the north. Reminded me a bit of Earth shadow but obviously with different physics.

By the way, is anyone else constantly surprised at how big Point Reyes is? It's hard for me appreciate the time it takes to get from one place to another. It's even worse than Death Valley for me.

Comments and critiques greatly appreciated. Please feel free to be completely honest. Thanks for looking!

I like this Mat. The thumbnail doesn't do it justice and maybe that's why you haven't received more comments, but the deep views of the pristine coastline are beautiful.

Mat,

I know this very spot. It is a great view and you have some great color in the sky. Yeah, Point Reyes is a huge expanse and so remote. Very easy to lose oneself there.

I like how the coast seems to go forever before disappearing in that great light. Nicely done Mat.

An uncommon composition, Mat, that works very well for me. The foreground plant makes for an appealing focal point to me and draws my attention, while the coastline leads me into the depth. The haze in the distance just makes the difference for me.

Works quite nicely. I like the light a lot. Could see cropping the blue out of the sky and ending with a warm top edge.

Its weird how marketable images that would sell really well do poorly on forums. I think this is worthy of many more replies. Great impact and use of line. I guess its too subtle for some. Well, they miss out...
