Ethereal

One of my favourite flowers - the lisianthus - but one I have always found tricky to photograph, as flowers, buds and stems tend to get in each other's way so often !

Canon 400D, 100mm Macro lens, 1/13 sec @ f9, 3 image Helicon stack, touches of Color Efex vignette blur

This certainly does have an ethereal feel to it! Wonderful light processing and nice pastel colors. This is a beautiful flower I am not very acquainted with. This type certainly resembles a rose. Love the pink edging! My only nit is being a little bothered by the incomplete flowers on the right but maybe that was difficult to avoid. Otherwise love the comp and the curving stem of the main flower. Lovely shot, Ian!

Very nice Ian. I like the vignette, the slight high-key look, and the sharpness of the main flower. I love the pink edging. For me, the incomplete flowers are not a shot maker or breaker.

Ian - This flower is a first for me. I googled to see that this is even used on Wedding Bouquets as well. Love your treatment to heighten the soft feel and a silky feel to the frame.

Like others before me, I have mixed feelings about the clipped blooms on the right, specially the one at the top right.

Lovely, high-key presentation. The pastel shades and curve of the stem are quite pleasing and delicate. I agree with others about the partial blooms, but I understand the problem. I would be pleased at any rate to call this mine.

Ian:
This is the best lisianthus image I have see without doubt :toast: Mostly the stem are straight and rigid so is a real plus to see this one curving around as if embracing the other bloom. The lighting here is just fabulous and high key is very appropriate in evoking this ethereal mood. Pure art!

Hi Ian :wavey: The high-key effect works wonderfully well with this flower. The soft focus and pastel colors make this an alluring capture : agree with Ram about the bloom at the upper Rt. cool:

This is a beautiful arrangement and wonderful soft colors Ian! I really like the curve of that stem and the way the petal from the lowest lisianthus is drooped over it, something not quite perfect in an other wise perfect flower, very enchanting.
