Buddha Storm

Winter storms that cross the Grand Canyon create some of the more beautiful times to see the canyon. I am fortunate to live within striking distance of the canyon for when the winter storms clear. This is from two winters ago and taken from Yavapai Point looking across at Buddha Temple.

At first glance the shadows on bottom bothered me. The more I looked, the more I like it. The balance of shadows on bottom and dark clouds at top work very well with the beautiful scene.

Wow! amazing lighting on the cliffs and snowdust. Incredible shadows looming below and above. Nice photo and I love it in pano.

Great image Doug, love the dramatic sky & light breaking across the top of the canyon..
I like the pano presentation/comp a lot too.

Very nice, and something I think about every time a storm hits the high country. But driving up from Phoenix when I-17 is closed changes my mind.

Wonderful and different image of the Grand Canyon. I really like the dusting of snow on the cliffs and the way the light is sweeping across the canyon. As Rick mentioned, the dark shadows on the bottom nicely balance the dark clouds on the top. Great comp and the pano works very well for this. Well done, Doug!

Doug, the lighting on the ridges with the snow and clouds are terrific. I too find the dark shadowed foreground challenging and wonder if a bit of dodging would make viewing easier.

Thanks for the feedback, and concern about the bottom darkness. It will be easy to lighten that area some.
