Young Fisherman

Here is an image of a young Malachite Kingfisher just after it dove in the water to retrieve a small Dragonfly. Its parents are pushing it out to get its own food. I like the pose, the fact that it has a meal in its beak and the plain BG.

Canon 1D MKiv
Canon 500mm plus 1.4 ext
1/1000
F/7.1
ISO 400
Distance from subject approximately 8 meters.

Neal I agree with all of your likes!! I like the irradiance colors of the bird's wing and head, the water drops on it's upper chest, and the sparkle on the wings of the dragonfly. An excellent image in every respect. :toast:

Nice sharp image. I am always amazed at how small their feet are. Thanks for sharing.

Great capture and the picture tells a story. As we said in the old days "a Kodak moment". :wavey:

Neal,
Great capture to go along with your story. This little fellow really feels proud of this dinner he's captured. The dragonfly looks like it was about as pretty as the fisher is. Very colorful bird. Nice and sharp with great feather details, a perfect blurred background, and a nice perch . What's not to like about this image? Sweet Neal. :toast:

Neal, well done. The colors are amazing and the fact you got it with a dragonfly in its mouth make it even better!!.

Love kingfishers. Great image, great colors, sharpness and pose. The water droplets on the chest add a lot for me.
