Common Grackle

I thought all Grackles were those ugly, loud Boat-tailed Grackles until I captured this one in my backyard this morning. I thought it's coloration was so interesting.

Please confirm that this is a Bronzed form of the Common Grackle. Any comments and suggestions are encouraged.

Dottie, you captured the colors wonderfully on this Grackle. I also like the coloration in the background, which to me helps bring out his beautiful colors. Sorry, I can not help you with the ID, but the photo drew me in and I just had to comment on it! :toast:

Very nice image of this Common Grackle. It takes good soft light to bring out the colors in this species.

You've really captured the beautiful iridescence in this bird. I like the bright yellow eye and the colorful background is a good compliment. Very sharp and nicely done.

Stunning bird - you got him/her at just the right angle! Info from the web confirms this is a bronzed Grackle - nice catch!
Nice perch and pose, too. The BG seems a tad bright and competes a little with the bird - perhaps consider toning it down a bit.
Excellent image!

Hello Dottie

I think Angela said it best... Well done ! Maybe lower the Brightness On Top of the beak a little.

Dottie,
That is a beautiful bird. All of the grackle's I've ever seen have just been like the one's you describe. You're being nice too. The colors are very pretty. You have a terrific pose, background and perch. I would like to see more canvas on the bottom if you have it. Nice job!

Wow Dottie-the colors here are superb! I think if more folks realized how colorful these birds are in the right light they'd be more sought out as a subject to photograph. Very cool capture, thanks for posting this.

Interesting to see the iridescent colors as I did not know grackles to have this much variation. Wonderful shot and background, well done.
