Hot Landing!

A few weekends ago I took up the challenge to get an Malachite Kingfisher in flight. I shot this image at Intaka Island as the Kingfisher moved from one perch to the next. I chose to shoot at f/10.0 as I was unsure of the exact path the bird would take and stay in focus. although the wings are OoF I like the fact that the body and head is in focus.

Canon 1D Mk IV
Canon 500 f/4.0
1/2500
F/10.0
ISO 1250

Thank you for viewing the image.

Sweet image, Neal. Excellent job getting the head and body crisp and a great job on the exposure.

Nice catch Neal. The blurred wings don't bother me at all. Head, body and feet are all sharp. Nice background and you give the image some perspective by including the perch. The colors are fantastic. Cool fisher.

Really have to see the larger image to appreciate the sharpness of the eye. Popping colors. I'd have to consider cloning out the perch-large as it is. Then maybe bringing in the crop.

Nice job in getting this difficult shot, I like the the landing pose and wonderful color scheme to this kingfisher. I think this would of made an interesting vertical presentation as well without the branch showing, well done.
