Taken in the rain forest exhibit at the Miller Park Zoo, this tanager was proving to be a more difficult subject,as it would only stay in one place for a few seconds (except for the feed dish). Fortunately it was a nice sunny day with plenty of light coming through the translucent roof.

John,
What a colorful bird. Love the green feathers on his head. The image looks slightly soft with the small file and no larger file to see. Also, the background as well as the bird has lots of noise, maybe from sharpening. The stick above his head is a little bit distracting as well. Hard to catch an active small bird like this but you did good John.

Beautiful Bird. The colors came out great. The eye seems a bit soft, but you seem to have been constrained by the conditions requiring the settings you used.

looks like difficult shooting conditions, John. a beautiful bird and generally good setting, but very noisy and a little soft.

Great pose, John. Some of the brightest spots look like they might be blown-you might want to play with shadows/highlights a bit.

I find it almost impossible to photograph these small birds in rainforest exhibits because of how very fast they are and how very active they are. Good job to catch one like this. To me the head looks sharp enough even though the body is a little soft.
