I was sitting on the edge of the water when the Grizzly brought his catch to shore to eat. He was so close this is full frame at 280mm. As you can see this was the first bite. Nikon D300 1/320th ISO400. Nikon 200-400 w 1.4 teleconverter. Being this close got my heart pumping.

Katmai NP Alaska

Very interesting image, Andrew. I really like how the claws stand out and show one just how long they are. Impressive. The overall image looks a little cool to me and adding a bit of warmth/saturation might help. There also appears to be halos around some of th FG rocks and fins of the salmon. Nevertheless a nice photo.

Nicely done. I like the fur detail on the head and those crisp claws.

I agree those claws really make you take notice. A nice intimate look that isn't your typical view of what most people associate with Katmai. No doubt my heart would be in my throat as well.

It is too close for comfort n those claws really make the shot! However I do wish, you should have gone vertical with the frame.

Powerful image. Those claws literally made me pull back from my monitor! In addition to all the positive things already mentioned, I also love the rosy color of, and the light on, his catch.

This is the type of shot that makes me say - wow, it really must have been fun to be there watching this happen and getting this shot!

Wow, love those claws! Great detail through out as well. What a pity though that the fish is not better visible, but despite that this is very engaging. Do you have more room on top for a vertical presentation?

Wow!! Those claws! I like the detail in the wet fur and the pink salmon adds a nice touch of color. Well done.

Wow! What a nice shot! His face is very sharp.I have always wanted to get a picture of a bear eating! I've seen grizzlies before but never one eating a fish.I hope that someday I can get a picture like this. It is just such a beautiful bear.
