Hello everyone, It's long since my last post and comment here, but my main job kept me away.
I tried a BW conversion and i'd like to have your comment on that.
Taken in Zambia this lioness is part of a pride of 21 (called the Mwamba pride). They are specialized in chasing (successfully) buffaloes. the very first day we arrived we found 4 big buffaloes killed by 6 of this lions.

Techs: D2Xs - nikkor 200-400 f/4 @400mm - ss 1/180 - WB manual
PP: BW conversion - cropped for composition.

C&C very wellcome

I like the context of this photo, as I love lions. To me it comes across as a little too dark on the smaller version, but when looking at the larger version, it isn't as noticable. Just try ligthening up the exposure a little and see how that works.

Love it luca ! The delicate ripples and the detail in the face are very intimate. Its one of those B&Ws where i cant help wondering how the colour version looked. If thats warm light hitting the face, i would love to see this in colour

One must view this large to fully appreciate it Luca, really like it.
I've saved it to my large screen monitor as the desktop image.
I like how the directional light hits the face, and when you look closely I do see a bit of color at the eye.
Looks great in B&W, well done! :toast:

Hi Luca, sounds like these lions were on a (pointless) killing spree. What strikes me immediately in this image is the hint of color in the eye; did you deliberately leave that in? I actually like that, as it does act as a (much needed) focal point. I do agree ths could be brightened up a little in its entirety though.

Hello everyone, thanks for your comments.
I did a recalibration of my monitor and maybe now i could be able to se as it really is.
@Vincent&Howard: good you noticed it; i deliberately left the colour in the eye to strenghten and make it the point of attraction.
