Ferns on hosta leaf +REPOST

I really enjoy ferns and hostas and have many varieties in my shade beds. These are the fronds of an autumn fern in its fall coloring lying on top of a variegated hosta leaf. Taken after a rain shower; no rearranging of elements.

Canon Rebel T1i. 90mm macro lens. F/32 for 1.6 sec. ISO 100.

C&C welcomed!

Carolyn:
Nice colors and composition. Not sure about the white arc lines ?water droplets on the bg leaves along the right side though.

Lovely. Great graphical interpretation going on there. While usually water drops add some interest, I am not sure that is the case here. Love the vibrant light green and yellows in the fern leaf popping against that green background with so many subtle curves.

Killer work and well seen

A great strong composition on the shot Carolyn, beautiful bold colours. The water drops are a little distracting in this case but not over much . Beautifully seen and captured. Cheers, :wavey:

Like others, I really like this image except for the water. The comp is outstanding and the ferns are really beautiful. I might feel differently about the water if it consisted of drops, but it just looks like spilled water. :frown: Nevertheless, a lovely image from your shade garden.

Carolyn, this is a very good composition, but I tend to agree with the others. I love water droplets on my subjects, but for me, the droplets are a bit distracting. Lovely fern fronds. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I did have some reservations about the look of those water drops but thought I would see what others thought. They would have been fairly difficult but not impossible to get rid of on this photo; I may try a re-edit or just wait to reshoot again next year.

Ok, I guess this wasn't so difficult to re-edit after all. I couldn't quite let it go until I tried it. What does this look like now? Is the re-edit better? Natural-looking?

Ferns are one of my favourite plants and this comp shows how beautiful they are. A small problem for me are the droplets of water. :toast:

Beautiful image. I like how the fern leaves arch across the frame and their colors are amazing. The repost without the water drops is a big improvement.

Carolyn, Love the photo and the repost is a big improvement! I found the water droplets distracting, but now my eyes can wander with the lines and colors. Love your comp and the colors are beautiful! Nice work. Blessings, Deb
