Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone had a great New Year and wish all of you the best light this year. Pushing creativeness these days is becoming quit a challenge but I think we are all up for it.

Btw, what the heck is going on with the weather around the midwest. No snow, ice and 50 degrees today.

This scene was taken on the way up to a long paddle entry point in the bwca. I paused at the mysterious beauty of this spot. Ravens called and whispers of wind silently crept through the forest.

Thanks again for your time and comments

Hi Anthony! Wishing you all the best for the new year too!
I like this picture alot, and it really does look like that area in the BWCA. Very nice comp, beautiful colors and a wonderful feel.
Nice work!

Hey, it was 66 in Colorado today. This is my type of image. I particularly like the large version because you can see the lichen on the foreground trees.

Happy New Year to you, Anthony!
I like this scene a lot, great color contrasts and depth, texture...nice.
The compression is doing evil things to it though, even in the large version. You might try backing off on the
sharpening--i think this could stand to be a little on the soft side. Or not... :wavey:

Thanks Guys,

Ya sharpening was not cooperating for web here and the compression was still below 50 even on the larger version. What can I say joys of web posting. Guess I'll have to print on canvas.
Thanks again

Anthony,

OH MY! This is outstanding, I love this image. The contrast and diversity of color is just fabulous. I LOVE everything about this and wish it were mine!

To be consistent in my thoughts and critiques I have to mention the blue/purple color of the tree trunks. Ok, now that I've mentioned it I'll come back and say that the combo of that color and the warm of the golds, reds and oranges of the Taiga is simply beautiful. Oh, and I like the open composition allowing the eye to meander and enjoy.

I don't like to say this often, but this is perhaps one my favorite images posted here in a long time. At least a couple days....
Seriously, I love this image.

It is a beaut! Bold colors and sweet detail. Might be a touch cyan for my tastes, but beautiful as presented.

Interesting, Anthony. A wonderful find with great texture and detail.
I like the contrast between the trees and the fall colored grasses.
The way that you've composed this with the spacing between the
trees gives a good feeling of depth to the image.

I'm curious. What does BWCA stand for? Is it "back woods
California"?

I know! Its in the mid 60's here in the Bay Area also, no rain, no clouds. Tioga pass through Yosemite is still open with a new record being set, and no weather forecast for all of next week either.

Love the vivid colors in this Vincent. Its one of those images that I think would make a awesome jigsaw puzzle.

A delicate beauty that you know so well to recognize and put it into an image, Anthony. Beautiful! By the way, I sent you a message a while ago over the contact form here at npn. Did you get it?

Robert, BWCA stands for Boundary Waters Canoe Area. A beautiful pristine area of many, many lakes and rivers that go on forever (almost) where you can canoe and camp in north east MN along the Canadian border. A very remote area. Anthony may have more info on this area as well. I know he has spent time in there. Nick

This is fantastic!!! You nailed this one. The composition, the complimentary colors, the depth, everything is excellent. It looks just a tad bit oversharpened for the web, but that's a very simple fix and essentially a non-issue. Beautiful work! :toast: :toast: :toast:

Absolutely love it! The contrast between the warm colors of the grasses and the cool blues in the tree branches is spectacular. Great job on the comp too, these shots are tough to find good ocmps.

I love the colour in this Anthony, the hints of warmth coming off the red grasses really contrast beautifully with the blue and greens.
