The moon falls through a veil of high clouds as twilight turns to stars. This is a blend of two images taken a few minutes apart. It was a tricky blend and for some reason it was an even more difficult sRGB conversion to keep contrast and colors close to the adobe RGB file I will print from. Any suggestions or critiques would be great.

Seychelles islands off the east coast of Africa.

Happy New Year everyone!

Mike

Great shot, love the colors! I like the simple formation in the foreground a lot...

Really a very clean and unique photo Michael. The star burst of the moon has the most appeal for me. The colors don't look to be problematic to me can't imagine why the conversion gave so much trouble.

Beautiful image Mike. The soft flow in the water and the crisp capture of the stars are a technical and esthetic winner.

Just a few minutes apart? Wow, remote ocean islands are amazing! I love how that rock kind of resembles an island itself.

This is awesome, Mike, wouldn't change a thing. Looks like an oil painting almost. There's a bit of star movement that in a perfect world i might have tried to avoid, but everything else is so nice here that's a non issue for me. :toast:

Very nice, nothing like I expected from the thumbnail. I love the transition from sunset light on the horizon to starry night above. :toast:

Mike,

Awesome! Now the thumbnail of course does this one a disservice because it seems out of balance. It's not until you open this up and see the great night time sky. Beautifully captured and processed.

And Happy New Year to you too!

An awesome image, Mike. Love the inclusion of the moon. The stars look great, and the fg rock shape is very intriguing. The blend seems a little abrupt, but I can see this must have been a very difficult one to achieve between the two time frames of the shots. Even so, the result is superb.

Hello Michael

A Special moment captured so well !!!! Very captivating image with the very soft foreground through the island rock to the sharp sky. From your memory , is this close to your visualization of this scene ?

I am not a landscape guy but really enjoy seeing your image, it is very powerful and has high impact when opened up to larger format. Do you ever present larger images? Would really enjoy seeing this image larger!!!

Thanks for sharing this stunning image !

Always an inspiration to see your work Michael. Very nice image. I like its celestial-ness. :toast:

No nits. I might be inclined to eliminate the stuff in the water on the bottom left for less distraction.

This is simply gorgeous, really well executed and so many interesting elements! I'm wondering if there is some vignetting in the upper corners? Seems like the light really falls off up there and there are so few stars in the upper corners. Still a spectacular image - love it!

Amazing! Very unique image. I love the deep blues and the moon-star. Works well with the sunset horizon.
