Silver Jack Snow

This was taken near Silver Jack Reservoir during the epic fall snow storm that hit Colorado on October 6, 2011. I spent the last part of the day without my 5dmk2, as it stopped working due to a bit too much snow/moisture. Luckily, Michael Renner let me borrow his 5dmk2 for about 10 minutes before we headed back over Owl Creek Pass.

Compression is not helping this one.

Canon 5dmk2, 90mm TS-E, two shot stitch.

Beautiful colors and great contrast between the trees and fore and back. Real sweet, Jimmy.

As they say, "very painterly". Has a watercolor feel to it that I like very much.

Beautiful autumn scene, Jimmy! I do find the background to be just a tad dark. The trees being much brighter than the background seem a bit out of place to my eye, almost like a cardboard cutout?

Your work is always a great source of inspiration. Another gem, my friend.

Gorgeous color Jimmy. As Phil mentioned, this is very painterly. I also like the almost 3-D effect this has due to the contrasts.

Stunning colors Jimmy - They really jump off the screen, especially with the subdued background.

Beautiful autumn color Jimmy. A great setup and even more intrigued with the background and I'm sure you managed a couple more images from this location? ;-)

This isn't a fault or a nit, but honestly I'm wishing there was either less snow on the trees, or more delicate snow present or a more uniform dusting.... Ok, I know anyone who's reading this is thinking, huh? I thought Lon was picky before, but that's crazy! Ok, actually I'm just being greedy - I would love to see an epic aspen, autumn snow scene rather than just a beautiful one...

The color here is fantastic. I really like the vivid yellows combined with the subdued blues. Also, the trees in the background form a very nice pattern that nicely sets off the foreground trees. You sure lucked out witht he snow here -- it sure helps give a sense of simplicity. Wonderful capture!

Awesome display of color! The large view really helps to not only bring out the detail, but it also helps to define the bottom of the frame which gets lost against the white bg of the small view.

My immediate reaction was the same as Phil's: painterly. I like the fact that you did not shoot for a realistic, sharp image, which would have been ordinary, but instead chose this interpretation.
