Olympus E-5, 300mm, tripod
f2.8, 1/100, ISO800

It's cold. Record lows three of the last four days. It's dark. This was taken at 12:47 PM. But the redpolls are back. giving a trace of color.

75% of full frame. Selective sharpening.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

The fluffed up pose really conveys your temperatures! Looks like you were struggling to get light, as well as keep warm! Sharon

I like the mood here Jim - conveying cold, low light and the struggle for survival. I also like the slightly open bill and you even got some light in the eye.

He looks really cold. The dusting of snow is a plus and you got a nice eye.

Nice. I haven't seens redpolls yet in southcentral, but I'm sure they're around somewhere. I like the pose, with the snow on him, and the detail in the beak is super nice. Yeah, it feels cold. Those feathers look really puffed-up!
I'm on a mediocre monitor and the colors seem a tiny drab, and to me, redpolls always seem so sharp and bright, so I'd like to see it brighter. But that may be just this monitor. Nicely done.

The immediate impression from this image is "Cold." These tiny finches always impress me with their ability to endure such conditions.

Very nice. I like the snowy face. I would like to see a little more pop, looks a little flat on my monitor. I am curious what have been the record lows?
