This image of the adult Red-Knobbed Coot was shot from a hide in the West Coast National Park in South Africa. The angle is a bit steep, but I like the interaction between adult and chick, especially the upturned beak and the little feet sticking out in anticipation of the meal.

Canon 1d MK IV
Canon 500mm F4.0
1/2000
f6.4
ISO 640

Thanks for looking. Your input is hugely appreciated.

I like what you like here Neal. A tough exposure done well and I enjoy the intimate look at the behavior of both birds. Agree that a lower angle would have been nice.

A lower angle may have been nicer, but those little feet sticking out may have been missed! Nice moment caught! Sharon

Very nice interaction. I like this angle since we can see the feet spread like they are, it adds interest. Nicely done.

Love the interaction and timing Neal.
I also like the way the chicks feet are splayed behind too.
Well done & Happy Turkey Day! :wavey:

Excellent timing Neal. Nice to catch the chick at this age, looks only a few days old. Love the splayed feet and the way it is reaching up to the adult for food.
