Lost soul

A simple and fleeting moment caught a few weeks ago at sunrise in one of my favorite locations in Romania, Ceahlau National Park. Unfortunately, this was pretty far away and I had to crop quite a lot to simplify the composition. Still, I feel this image deserves to be kept for the sake of the beautiful moment I had the privilege to witness. Don't even think about suggesting any more cropping, ok?

Awesome moment !! If it were mine, I would crop the top section off, to eliminate the eye getting fixated on the least interesting section of this unique capture

Well done

I would crop the top to eliminate the clouds. :jump:
Seriously, even if this is a small print it will work because the light and tones are so good.

Dorin, another winner here. I like how you've kept the ridgeline in the ULC but can see this cropped pano too! :toast:

Moment, is mentioned here so often and no wonder. To have caught the light shining on those whispy clouds before it brightened the mountain side was perfect timing. Excellent work, Dorin.

Dorin, I think you have captured some lovely light, but I can't tell what I'm looking at. Water? Sands?

Regards,

Carol

Thanks everyone. Well, it's of course a wandering soul. It might also be fog illuminated by the first rays. The white area in the back is also fog, but there was a ridge way back blocking the direct light there. :wavey:

Beautiful! Lucky moment. I would try with little more contrast, I guess it is because of the distance. :toast:

Beyond  ! That is some really amazing light. Don't crop the sky. It provides the context that makes me

I like the design of your comp, Dorin. Great job cropping down to achieve a very nice balance of elements. The compressed layering of the hills is wonderful, as is the beautiful light on the mist.

Beautiful moment captured Dorin. A scene like this stays with you long after the shutter is snapped!

Dorin,

Phenomenal. The light and atmosphere you've captured in complete simplicity is just amazing. Just beautiful.

Now not a nit, but I'm trying the figure whether I want more, less, or none at all - of the UL. It's like I think the presence of the sky/clouds works, but it's either not enough, or something. Having a hard time deciding on that. It doesn't take away from the image per se, but I think changes it from a very simple and abstract image to more of a traditional landscape image (with a phenomenal light event.) if that makes sense.

But no matter how I slice this one, this is a fantastic image and a great moment captured.

That is some amazing light, Dorin. Love how you were able to isolate these clouds against the far mountainside and still have the great silhouette of the trees in the foreground. Outstanding.
