Morning Mountain Mist

by Larry Fischer

Taken in the Brooks Range, Alaska last month.

The sun warms the very rocky mountain slopes and rapidly heats the air which rises. This creates fog and clouds.

Nikon D300.

Thought I'd try a monochrome on this one.

The mountain mood looks quite special. I can see you used the river to add some leading line interest, but I wonder what the view was if you moved in the left direction. Was a view down the valley available, as that appears to hold the most drama in this image. Those peaks and clouds look fantastic as does the processing. :toast:

Glad I opened this up Larry, much nicer than the thumbnail would suggest!

Beautiful tones, especially in the peaks, and I love the mood here.

Great range of tones, and some terrific atmosphere! You lost a bit of DOF up front, but overall this is real nice.

Like it. I always like those fog photographs. I might have tried to avoid that foreground bush, though.

The layers and textures here are very appealing. Has almost a dreamy quality to it.
