Some of you may know that Texas is experiencing a severe drought now. I've seen a very drastic reduction of insects/butterflies this year in Central Texas.

Magnificent Howard! Love the perspective with the butterfly at a right angle to the flower. Colors and detail are wonderful.

Excellent image, Howard. The subtle colors of that BF are splendid and the background and flower make for a terrific photo.

Great image, both from the nature & artistic points of view. Those subtle wing colors & details would be tough to bring out.

Nice image Howard, like Sandy, I would maybe try darkening the butterfly a little though.

Very pleasing image, Howard. Love the vibrant colors in the perch and the great background. Perfect DOF. Did you have the option of shooting this from the top? :toast:

Howard: Not sure if I like the butterfly or the perch more. The combo is killer. Sorry to see this is an old image. I actually saw one pipevine swallowtail and one gulf fritilary in our garden last weekend. That's all we've had in months! This is a great shot. Congrats on the WP. >=))>

You passed over this one?! Wish I had ones that good that were passovers… This is really a great shot, Howard, that reveals color in the butterfly that might not otherwise be appreciated. Great comp and clarity, and the timing is not bad, either. Congratulations on the Pick! :toast:
