This crab spider waits for his prey to visit the Japanese Anemone flower he hides on. Another successful catch!

Canon Rebel T1i. 90mm macro lens. F/6.3 for 1/4 sec. ISO 100.

Wonderful image, IMO. I believe this is a Muzumina vitia spider and they love the hunt at blooms. Insects haven't much of a chance with these stealthy killers. Love the colors and detail.

Carolyn:
What a nice contrast in RUC and LLC in this image; between the color of the flower center and the spider, the striking beauty of the bloom center and cold brutality of the kill, the radial symmetry of the flower and the sagital symmetry of the spider and prey...etc. Excellent comp in everyway. :toast:

Carolyn,

What a great capture!! The beautiful flower is a wonderful "backdrop" to the crab spider and prey. Excellent detail and comp, and your focus is spot-on. Well Done!

Excellent clarity and color Carolyn. The combination of flower/crab spider with prey is a sure fire macro winner in the book of Cheek
Great detail & exposure, well done :toast:
