Fierce Light

This is the same scene from North lake last fall. I have nothing new to process or show, so was looking back through some older files. I think this frame is stronger than the original post in terms of balance to the light. Maybe slightly more dramatic as well? Definately the most impressive light I've ever witnessed. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Larger version included too.

D200,
18-70mm,
1/8sec, F/9.5,

Thanks,
Chris

I like this a lot Chris. That warm light really compliments the autumn color and brings it to life. The only critique that I have is that I would like to see the rest of the peak on the right hand side in the reflection but that is a very minor nit. I realize that maybe you were trying to avoid a 50/50 composition. Excellent work!!

Excellent light man....I've really enjoyed your work and this is one of my favorites. The details in the reflection seem sharper than the actual mountains...I suppose it's the richness of the darker tones. Beautiful image.

Chris,

It would take something very special "new" to beat this image. I remember vividly this morning of "incredible" light. I was lucky enough to be in this area at dawn to witness it. You nailed it. I like the way you have let the brightness be bright. The early morning light lancing through the breaks in the dark clouds , did illuminate with this intensity. Thanks for sharing.

The light is indeed dramatic. Love the spotlight effect on the peaks with the storm clouds above and that perfect reflections are just that, perfect. The orange seems a tad over saturated, but I wasn't there and those lighting conditions produce some amazing effects.

I remember this one well! I think the processing on the mountains looks better here than your old one (had to go look it up), but I liked the blue and higher contrast in the clouds of the old version a little more.
