Summertime in the deep south is hot and humid. It was 86 degrees F on the paddle out at 4:00 am. Even wading chest deep does no good to cool down,,,,,the water temps are in the mid eighties.

I think this is the best cypress image you've done since I've been a member and that is saying a lot. The mirror-like calm of the water, the subtle colors in the mossy drapes and the wonderful solid structure of the trunks come together perfectly. I'm totally blown away.

Nice colors and reflection, but it seems like there might be a slight CCw tilt?

I love the range of colors in this photo David. The reflection is nice and the pano format works very well for this one. You could try PS free transform to pull the left corner up a fraction or the right corner down. This may help the appearance of that natural lean.

WOW! I agree with Nancy that this has to be one of your strongest images ever. Superbly composed and captured - this is so impressive I'm at a loss for words.

Thanks to everyone for the feed back. I'll take some measurements to check the leveling,,,,,not sure if its really off or if its an illusion.

Tony,,,,,I've been in a photographic funk for the last few months. Maybe this paddle out to one of my favorite places will help.

What I thought first when I saw this was how in the world did you create such a sense of space and air in the depths of this forest/swamp. Your exquisite composition, the delicate quality of the light, the subtle reflections, everything comes together. This is absolutely stunning, David.

I've missed your images, too. This is so beautiful, soft, sharp, light. I don't think I would be wading chest deep there, though. ;)

The detail you capture is impressive. These cypress swamps are an amazing thing to see and your images of them are the very best I have ever seen. The delicate texture of the spanish moss, the soft colors, the light, pure magic!!!!!!!!

That's just badass. So simple and yet so much depth. Overcast early morning light? Needs some CW rotation I think...everything feels slanted. Great work

The character of these trees and the tonal range in the image make this a definite winner. The fall shot you posted is one of my all time favorites, but this is a close second.

Wow - this is just too beautiful.... The heat of the day is not coming across, just calm and serenity. The curving moss around the trunk is like silky locks of hair caressing a beautiful neck. The soft rich color pallete is gorgeous.

Excellent!
