At least it looks like a snail to me. This is actually Copalis Rock on the Washington coast just south of Olympic National Park taken on July 21st.

Very nice Steve. I like the well controlled sunstar. And yes, it does look like the silhouette of a snail!
I'm heading out to the peninsula in a couple of days. I hope I'm lucky enough to find some light as nice as this!

What a lovely seascape, Steve!! I love the dramatic light and the warm rich reflection. I agree it looks like a snail. Great work!!

Lovely light here, Steve! Regarding composition, I think the main elements are too grouped together in the center left area and that big gap in the clouds distracts a bit from the wonderful atmosphere. It might be too extreme to try out, but a crop from below the gap might simplify things here.

Awesome light and drama in this seascape, Steve. The sunstar is well controlled and I like it's placement in the notch of the rock. While I think this is fantastic as is; I do like Dorin's crop suggestion because that light area does draw the eye. Just a suggestion of course.

Nice shot Steve. Both are good but the repost is excellent. Well done.

It's imagination that often make the best compositions. The snail is easy to see now that you show it to us in this context. I like the recomposed second image with less of the light-colored sky.
